For my wife Nancy and me, there is something special about stepping outside and getting our hands into the things God has created. We love foraging, growing our own food, fishing, and simply being outdoors. Here in Newfoundland, we are surrounded by an incredible abundance of wild places, and every season seems to offer something new to discover.
We created Into the Wild: God’s Bounty on the Rock to share some of those discoveries with you.
From wild berries and edible plants to gardens, fishing, harvesting, preserving, and learning the ways of the land, this section is about more than simply finding food. It is about slowing down, getting outside, learning, and recognizing the Creator behind the creation.
Newfoundland's wilderness is rugged, beautiful, and sometimes challenging—but it is also full of God's provision. A handful of berries picked from the barrens, a fish pulled from the cold Atlantic, or something grown from a tiny seed can remind us just how wonderfully God has provided for us.
So come along with Nancy and me as we step Into the Wild, explore Newfoundland's natural bounty, learn what the land and sea have to offer, and enjoy the simple blessing of being outdoors.
There is much to discover on the Rock—and God's fingerprints are everywhere.
